Dr. Ann Preston was a pioneering American physician and a champion for women in medicine. She was the first female dean of a medical college and advocated for equal opportunities in medical education. She also established the Woman’s Hospital of Philadelphia to provide female medical students and physicians with the opportunity to obtain clinical experience while improving access to healthcare for women in the Philadelphia area. Through her advocacy, leadership, and determination, Dr. Ann Preston helped pave the way for women to enter and thrive in the medical profession, challenging societal norms and opening doors for future generations of female physicians.
